The environment suit as depicted in Total Recall is a streamlined helmet with a backpack life support system and a relatively simple suit. There is no real attempt to suggest how the connections between the suits elements provide an airtight seal. Rather, the environment suit looks to be more of an outdoor gear, than a mechanism for survival. The spacesuit becomes part of a person's wardrobe in the similar manner as snow boots or snow pants.   They are utilitarian clothes that must be worn to protect oneself from a harsh environment.
