EQUILIBRIUM (2002)
"you clean, we'll sweep"
Architecture and Film- 2008
In Equilibrium violence is controlled in an
authoritative manner for the elite
fighters of the government, the
Grammaticon cleric. Their training and
ability to "process" any exisitng sense
offenders leads the protagonist, John
Preston to a resolve his own personal
question towards his own identity and
the unusual emotions being felt. In such
a world where lethal force is justified,
one's ability to perceive what is violent
is void by the drug Prozium and through
father. Without emotion much of the
things that make one human, become
meaningless, such as life and death.
The world of Libria is one that
has no violent associations
between its citizens, only its
government, thus causing a
lack of humanity. It is in the
wastes, where the rebellion
front that have the ability to
feel have humanity and have
the desire to protect what they
cherish through violence.
Interestingly, Libria's creation
came to be in order to prevent
a fourth world war, seeing that
violence would only drive the
human race to extinction.
