What me worry? Just about everything. Every year we add to our list new reasons to watch what we eat, where we go, what we do, and what we say. But oftentimes we forget the list and preoccupy ourselves with less severe things like… YouTube. Once lost in a daze of complacency, it takes a persuasive force to shake us out of smugness, and nothing so inventively reminds us of our fears as does dystopic film. This virtual storytelling has brought to our attention the uglier facets of human nature, and has made us all too familiar with the those we would like to forget. Our greatest fears are not tied to the monster under our bed, but to our own monstrous capability—our fears are rooted in the reality of possibilities. |
