Black Cat’s Hjalmar Poelzig represents a more identifiable evil in our society. A sociopath nevertheless, Hjalmar is a composed and intellectual individual. He can play the part of the gracious host and the leader of a satanic cult without a change of face, and it is this nonchalant transition that makes Hjalmar so frightening. The classic, eloquent sociopath reminds us that a well groomed facade can coneal even the most ingoble of tendencies. |
