Akira centres around the charcters of Tetsuo and Kaneda but neither of them are storytellers. It is not a limited third person story telling because we see other important characters outside of the two leads. The audience looks on with an omnipresent view of the situation. This is most utelized by the fact that through the film the two main characters are looking for each other and the viewer knows where both are.
