joker "this is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object." the joker, played by heath ledger, is the embodiment of chaos and madness with in the film the dark knight. in each scene the joker appears in, his unpredictable nature and intensity create a sense of fear and curiosity for the viewer. we fear the joker because of his power and uncompromising actions. we are drawn to him because of his power and uncompromising actions. we are curious to know his history, what made him this way? what are his motives? we soon find out that he has no origin and cannot be categorized or rationalized, he has no greater purpose or motivation other than to exist and create anarchy, an 'agent of chaos.'
