Background: The images contained on this site were taken during a site visit, arranged by the courtesy of the Steel Structures Education Foundation (March 2002) during the SSEF Architectural and Engineering Educators Meeting.

The Project: The Canron plant was in the process of carrying out the fabrication of the large structural steel components for #1 Times Square, New York. The entire structure of #1 Times Square is constructed of structural steel, from the foundation columns to the steel at the top of the building. Many of the member are composed of composite sections made from multiple layers of 6" steel plate (the maximum hot rolled plate section available).
