Here are a few scenes from SIN_CITY(2005) that are very good examples of the effectiveness of using high contrast black and white. These are all very important scenes to the storyline, and are all entirely black and white with no shades of grey. By animating these scenes in this way, we are shown that the importance of the scene is found in what is happening, rather than in the settings, or emotions of the characters.
