Sin City

Sin City is split up into 4 separate but interweaving narrative segments, each with its own heroic narrative. This film, like Alphaville mimics a film noir style narrative, each of the heros in turn tells his story of intrigue or revenge. This style of first person narration is unusual for graphic novels, on which the film is based. John Hartigan is a ex-cop/ex-convict looking for the girl who kept him alive; Marv is looking for who killed his lover, the salesmen is doing a hit job and dwight McCarthy is fighting with the cops. Each story shines light on the previous ones without the narrators ever mentioning them. It is an interesting style of narration because although we see through their eyes the audience level of attachment to each character is significantly weakened by the others.
