Renaissance's conception of Paris in 2054 is similar to today's society. The complexity and variance of morality are portrayed in the characters and their actions. The characters that appear to be villainous, such as Claus, are not evil, and Ilona, seen as innocent, become a threat to the stability of humanity. Overt sexuality, such as the underground bath and the digital females on the street, is an extension of a red light district. The desire for youth and immortality lead to violence and death. Avalon's control, corruption and influence comment on the power of today's mega corporation. Renaissance portrays futuristic Paris as a disenchanted metropolis, which relates to the societies of classic film noir. |
