Timelines of Science

Timelines of Science :

As I ready this course for your consumption, it becomes more and more apparent that, given the topic and its relationship to the discovery of our universe and space exploration, that we need to ourselves explore science a little bit. As all of our cultural history courses have taught us so well, we cannot judge artifacts properly without some understanding of the culture of the world in which they were created.

Films about space also require such knowledge, only in this case, in order assess whether the film (or the book from which the film was derived) "make sense", or "mock sense", we need to understand the concept of the universe and space exploration from that period.

So I offer these links to peruse as you look at the year of production of the film, and the year of writing of books related to the film.

MY BIG QUESTION.... I cannot seem to find anywhere the exact year or time that it was discovered or recognized that there was no breathable air in space, that space lacked gravity, and that it was very cold. If anyone finds this out, please let me know! cheers, Terri
