THE CUBE

This 1997 sci-film, directed by Vincenzo Natali is shot with a variety of camera techniques and lighting. This is mainly because the setting of

the movie is suppose to be hundreds cubed rooms where in fact there was only one cube constructed. So therefore various lighting and

camera techniques were used to manipulate the viewer into thinking there were seeing a differenet room. There were six different

colours used in lighting the clear plastic panels of the room to give the appears of 6 kinds of rooms. The two main camera styles used i

this movie were low angle shot and high angel shots. High angle shots were used when the director wanted to give the sense of

vulnerablity or powerlessness. On the contrary, low angle shots were used when the director wanted to give the characters a more

powerful image. An example would be the violent scene when Quentin was in rage.
