Now available! SSEF Case Studies in Steel Constuction, Volume 1. | |
This interactive CD-ROM provides colourful and complete case study information on the construction of BCE Place by Santiago Calatrava and the construction of The Vancouver International Airport by Architectura and Bush Bohlman Engineers. Included are photos of the fabrication, construction, design information and finished building. The CD also contains a limited case study of the construction of the new terminal building at Pearson International Airport in Toronto as well as other significant steel projects. The project was funded by SSEF and developed by Professor Terri Meyer Boake of the School of Architecture, University of Waterloo. The CD is available in both Windows and Macintosh formats. Also included on the CD are bonus folders of images of all of the projects addressed on the CD-rom, as well as small MPEG files of the finished state of the buildings. |

Coming Fall 2005! SSEF Case Studies in Steel Constuction, Volume 2. | |
This interactive CD-ROM provides colourful and complete case study information on the construction of the Vancouver Millennium Line Skytrain Stations. The stations were designed by architectural firms such as Busby + Associates, VIA Architecture, Merrick Architects, Hancock and Bruckner, Architectura/Stantec, Walter Francl, Hotson Bakker. The project is being funded by SSEF and developed by Professor Terri Meyer Boake of the School of Architecture, University of Waterloo. The CD will be available in both Windows and Macintosh formats and is due to be completed Winter 2006. |

Under development: SSEF Case Studies in Steel Constuction, Volume 3: Stars + Steel | ||||||
SSEF Case Study CD-ROM Volume 3+, image collection is underway. This CD will look at the construction of the Addition to the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) by Will Alsop, The Leslie Dan School of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto by Norman Foster, and the Addition to the Royal Ontario Museum by Studio Daniel Libeskind. The steel for all three Toronto projects has been the fabrication and erection responsibility of Walters Inc. of Hamilton, Ontario. Walters Inc. also won a CISC Ontario Region Steel Design Award for their part in the new Canadian War Museum that opened in Ottawa in May 2005.
