Project Images: ...crystal construction continues ... june 2005
A very rough panorama of the front elevation of the ROM on 24 March 2005.
A panoramic view of the state of construction on June 2, 2005, taken from the roof.

View of the crystal from the corner of Bloor and Avenue Road.
These iron workers are accepting a beam that has been just dropped off..

The iron workers are attaching the cables to the steel to ready it for lifting.
An oblique view up one of the diagrids.

The view from the loading entrance at Bloor Street. The security guard's name is Dave. He knows quite a bit about the project, and also has taken some nice images!
A view from the roof looking towards the main "space" between the present crystals. There is another crystal yet to be constructed that will bridge these two. If you look closely you can see the gusset plate extensions that will take the next pieces.
The shard of the crystal that overhangs Philosopher's Walk .

The crystal peeks over the wall -- view from Philosopher's Walk. There is apparently to be a restaurant up there.

View from the third floor of the ROM towards the central atrium space. They are in the process of pouring the second February 11, 2021the diaphragm of the structure and keep it stable.
A view towards the point at which the crystal pops over the top of the existing museum. The vertical members right against the wall are temporary supports to keep the steel from deflecting, prior to the installation of more members.
A really big connection. The use of a flat plate at the end of a tube member forms a moment connection and is also the simplest way of connecting a tube to another tube in line.
The sun reflecting off of the west face of the diagrid.
Standing on the roof of the west wing of the existing ROM. These grids are not yet complete. .
