Thermal Comfort Urban Scale

Thermal comfort:URBANSCALE. Assess outdoor thermal comfort and design opportunities for exterior activities. Assess the influence of design strategies the take wind into consideration. Respond to extreme design conditions in a Nordic environment.

Investigative Strategy

Use of the waterflume to evaluate a design proposal early in the design process. Snow drifting patterns were also used in a past studio to study natural ventilation in sections of the project at the architectural scale.

Evaluation Process
Digital technique of image analysis applied to snow patterns. Written report (20 pages) for the compulsory seminar, which applies to the design studio project.
