Topics
• Closed Heating
-passive solar
• Open Mode
-natural ventilation
-switch-rich envelope
• Closed Cooling (without A/C)
- solar control
- night cooling of thermal mass

Design/Performance Objective
To develop building form and organization aimed at heating, cooling and lighting exclusively by architectural means.

Investigative Strategy

Informed by analysis and synthesis of climate, place and precedents, develop schemes through a sequence of studies where place, program and climate take turns as the central organizing theme; develop descriptive metaphors and graphic diagrams for circulation, spatial arrangement, and indoor-outdoor relationships of each approach.

Evaluation Process
Illustrate design concept proposals (plan and section diagrams, 3-dimensional illustrations) for discussion and critique.
